how do I tell what kind of cam and lifters i have?
Careful guys. Some solids do indeed have a plunger. The difference is they do not have any spring resistance for preload. Some solids out there you cannot tell the difference looking at them from a hydraulic. Easiest thing to do is remove the snap ring or wire clip from one and take it apart. If is has a spring and plunger, it is hydraulic. Just a plunger with no spring, it is solid. Of course if it is a solid chunk of steel then it's obvious.
