I just bought an indy 500 inch motor to put in my duster, and need a big block tranny. I saw where TCI makes one that is supposed to handle like 725-1000 plus hp and was wondering of any thoughts or better options were out there.

I ran a TCI behind the small block with great results so I was thinking it is a good choice unless I can build one for cheaper than about 1300.

Lucky you! What makes your car launch so well it has a 1.54 60'? I run a faster 1/8th and only have a 1.66 60'

yea dont need this to happen, happen to me at the line 2 years ago at gateway

Is it a race car or street? Or both.? I use a TCI built 727 behind my 499 stroker and have had no problems. Street driven when nice and has about 70 quarter mile passes on it. Has a 3500 stall and 373 rear. 1.56 sec 60 ft and high 10's at 121 mph.

TCI has a terrible reputation with Mopars. That's why we say TCI stands for "Turns to Crap Instantly". Search a little and you'll find that out. There are so many great Mopar specific trans. builders why not go with one of them? Cope Racing Trans. that was mentioned is a great one. Another is Andrews Racing. A&A Trans. is another great company.

Kenny Ford at PTC in Muscle Shoals, Al did good on my trans and converter for my Hensley 499" in my 67 GTS. Great person to deal with and reasonable, Joe
