Well folks. I suppose its time for me to start a Resto. Thread. The 'Doba has a 318 (140hp) from the factory. I have not crawled under to confirm, but I'm gonna take a buddies word for it and tell you that it has a 904 trans with 8 1/4 rear end housing some 3.08 gears. This heavy land yacht weighs in somewhere around the ball park of 4800 lbs. Ya, it needs a diet! The first pics I'm posting are the outside of the car from driver side to passenger side

Beautiful car. Is it really that heavy? I remember back in the day the Cordoba was advertised as 'the new small Chrysler.'

Here are pictures of the not so perfect interior and the cluttered engine bay

Great. I will help where I can Chuck. We need to go to Delaware OK to the junkyard for some body parts. Have van will travel.

Ricardo Montalban approves. As do I, looking forward more pics as the work progresses. :happy1:

You will be cruising like 'the most interesting man in the world'! Drive Mopar my friend! P.S. My '06 Dakota weighs about the same but only has a V-6, so your car should move nicely and have a little luxury to boot!

Tiltsix- I believe so. I know its flor shift. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Yellowdartdave- thanks bud! I do have lots of homework to do still when I find the time. So I appreciate the heads up. Constructive criticism and fact are always appreciated.

rumblefish- yes indeed. That's why I said somewhere in the ballpark.

Chuck it is a factory floor shift car.But I don't know if the 78-79 had the rachet shift or not.

I went ahead and painted the bumper inserts last night and took a can of night shades to the side markers to get an idea of what the car would look like without them there so to speak. No its not permanent, so don't freak. I posted before and after pics

Cool doba, lots of potential! I love my 1976 Cordoba. Got it for $500 when I got my license. Since then I did a resto on it in college. What a great driving and fun car! FYI they weight 3900 - 4200 lbs, based on options. Mine weighs 4050 w/ a 318. Have since added an aluminum intake, need to weigh it again. Also I have read that if you make your own bumper mounts to replace the heavy shock absorber type mounts, you could shave 40+lbs right there! I will try this next summer. But by all means, they are ALWAYS gonna be heavy compared to an a-body! :p

My eyes must suck. I have doba doors next to magnum doors and can't tell the diff.
Maybe in the light I should look. LOL!

My 400/727/9-1/4 (3.55's) was in a '78 Doba. IIRC, it was 3879 on the reggie.
Add gas, me, a gaggle of cheerleaders.... LOL... OK, over 4 large we go.

Thanks Yellow Dart. Nice page there. I almost missed it.

The magnum doors square off at the back of the body line forming that "D" shape. The Doba doors do not. They just smooth out

Clean car. A friend of mine ended up with a spare purple shaft #40 in a deal.He dumped it into a 77 Doba.Sure was weird when you pull up to a stoplight and see a Cordoba thumping away!

Surprising they made them so heavy. That wouldn't save expensive gas in the late 70's. My 65 Newport is ~18 ft long and weighs ~4000 lb with a 383 (I have read). Someday I'll switch to aluminum parts to lighten it (water pump housing, heads). Why no AC in OK? You'll want that by this summer.

I guarantee you I will! I'm trying to round the stuff up for it. All I need is the Compressor, hoses, condenser, and reciever/drier/acumulator. Probably another $400
