When the lower hinge sags, people start slamming the doors harder and harder, eventually tearing the shitake out of the striker and surrounding metal. Dynamic Restoration sells a nice reinforcement plate for that spot and they aren't "Crack Smoker" priced. BTW, own a '69 Valiant 2-dr sedan- very basic and cheap, thats why I love the car (okay, the $150 buy in for an 87K mile, no rot original was sweet,too).
