Worth it to build my 273?

I raced a 318 and after thr first season put 360 heads with 2.02 valves in place of the stock 1.88 intakes. The bigger combustion chamber lowered the compression, the bigger intake port dropped the intake velosity. Result is that I had a hard time launching and ended up after a season of playing with a car that ran 1 mph faster and .05 quicker than with the 318 heads. It had a 4.30 surgrip. What I am trying to say is 360 heads on a 273 is not a good idea for a street driven car especially with street gears.
