How complete are the new reproduction wiring harnesses for late model A-Bodies? I've heard that you have to scavenge some connectors off the factory harness and splice them onto the new ones. Also, if I wasn't having any electrical problems before, and I go over the harness and check for problems, is there any real reason to replace my factory harnesses?

Actually, one problem I did find was a melted fusible link for the rear window defroster. Anyone know of a good source for these?

New is always Good!!!But i don't see a reason to re -wire if you have good wires.Good on the new is that you will never have problem with it.I'm gonna re-wire my Dart next week .

If you want a factory style harness I would contact Bill and Rose Evans.

If you don't care then a Painless harness is the way to go but you will have to use some of the factory bulb connections or go to Napa and get some new ones to put on the new harness.

If you don't have any thing that looks bad now take a close look at the harness and look for signs that something may go bad on you in the future. While you are going over every thing I would do the ammeter bypass and I would also drill and hard wire the main power wire and save yourself the trouble of having to go back and redo it. Look for any wires that are highly discolored or that are starting to show signs of cracking or hardening. These will give you problems in the future if not near future. Is this car a numbers matching trailer queen or is it a as complete as can be driver or a resto mod?

The engine harness I got from Evans was complete, I didn't have to do anything but plug it all in.

The harness included all the lights, charging system and engine wiring from the bulked connector forward. It did not include the third connector in the bulked connector for the wipers and back-up lights. That was seperate harness.

I just read about the ammeter bypass thing and am going to do it. Is there anyone that will convert your ammeter to a volt meter and leave it w/ a factory face? Or just sells new ones?

This car is going to be a restored (not concours) 'complete as can be driver' that will be modded w/ factory parts. It'll LOOK stock but it won't run like it.

Did not know about Evans. I'll definitely check them out.

Hello...
I just got a quote of a complete package for a 1964 Barracuda, engine... under-dash...everything from headlights to tail-lights = $483!!!

Also, I saw Bill Evans at Carlisle and he has a package without the under-dash part for $265

Now, another company that I just found this morning is EZ Wiring... and the price difference is weird... their 21 Circuit Kit is $185!!!

Could anyone here please tell what is going on... has anyone used EZ Wiring before?
I need everything from head to toe... PLEASE HELP!!!...
Thanks...

I think your $483.00 quote for everything is a DEAL. If it`s a factory reproduction ,plug and play, then that sounds great! Some dash kits alone are more than your total.

I have not personally used an EZ wiring system but have had customers call talking about them and they were to say the least not impressed. That is all I know.

I though Evans didn't sell direct? If I had known this I might have saved...<gulp!> ALOT of money when I bought my harnesses!

Does anyone know of any article with this topic?
This is a conversion from an External to an Internal alternator for a Plymouth Barracuda.

Thanks so much in advance..
