Nope, no idea. Must be the transmission. Ive driven the car since and It drives normally. I'm going inspect and rebuild the trans along with a brake job.
I have been following this thread. You have a likely clue with the cracked brake shoes. The reason the crack is heat or poor quality brake shoes. When you removed the drums did you back off the adjusters?
