I just bought my first set of tools I can actually call my own. I had always used my grandfathers or my dads tools before. This is just the beginning of the long road to hording lol.
I know its not much but its a start and I got what I feel was a good deal. It started out as a 227 piece Kobalt set and I added in a 10 piece pliers/adjustable wrench set and a small screwdriver set. Grand total $165 compairable craftsman kit plus extras would have been over $200.

Great I know you will get a lot of use out of them

Good stuff! It's cool you are building a tool collection. You might check out swap meets,if on a budget.Buy American used,if in good shape.

This is a good start for the beginner, now I want to see how far out of control you get in a few years. Some 38 years ago,i started with a small set like this, now today,my box is valued at 95grand of snap-on tools, that,s why I say,we will see in a few years the control you have????mrmopartech

Very nice set ! I just got my own tools as well ! My best friends dad owned a junk yard/metal salvage years ago before he passed away and had tons of tools.A couple of months ago i get a call from my friend saying to meet him at his dads old garage. So i rush out there and he says he wants to sell all of his dads tools to me. Long story short i gave him $100.00 bucks for 4 truck loads of tools air compressors,jacks/air jack, saws, misc car parts, tool boxes, and tons of hand tools !

I like Kobalt, altough most of mine are craftsman. Started collecting too many years ago, but now have a Lowe's much closer than a Sears, so when I need something in a hurry, it's Kobalt.

Next: Get yourself a set of long wrenches like these cheapos:

They are cheap, but I never had an issue with them at all, 25 bucks and there are always 20% coupons ($19.99) in the mailers. Always use the box end if at all possible on any wrench. My favorite tool was a 1/2-9/16 combo long box end wrench, still have it from my bicycle chop shop days...I think Kobalt is made right alongside Craftsman at the same plant anyway, both have same warranty, but Craftsman has a larger catalog. If you live by a Harbor Freight, all their hand tools are warranted to, but youll find yourself bringing in a broken screwdriver everytime you go there. Never had an issue with their wrenches. Swap meets are great for hand tools by the bucket full, Happy hunting.

I'll second that! My start was a 194 piece Craftsman tool set that I got for christmas. Now I have a 3 tier tool box that is loaded and still need more room. My collection started only 3 years ago, I think. So yea, your collection will grow fast. You'll look back in a couple years at that Kobalt tool set and think "Dang! It started that small!"

Note the Mopar maget! Lol

I started with tools about 35 years ago. I am still buying and I just got in a 5 peice Proto 3/4 drive ball joint socket set I have collected mine here and there without spending big bucks on them. Auctions, garage sales, eBay, Craigslist and flea markets have provided me with plenty of name brand tools at decent prices. eBay is the toughest but once in a while you can pick up some speciality name brand tools for a decent price.

Good deal on the tool set. I have quite a bit of kobalt tools myself, and have never had any problem with them. Might wanna get to looking for a bigger box though, once ya start buying, it takes a swift kick in the rear to stop.

Looks to be a great beginning on your never-ending, lifetime tool acquisition.
I started over 30 years ago with a Craftsman tool set in a hand-carried toolbox and swore it was all I'd ever need. Ha! Bought a house a couple of years later and shortly after that expanded to a Craftsman roller toolchest cabinet and multi-drawer toolbox. Been collecting specialty tools as needed ever since.
Trust me, you're just getting started...but a good start!

X5 on the getting started. I remember buying my first set of 3/8" Westward sockets, and a 1/2 & 9/16" wrench..

A man with no tools is no man, just a tool.
