You'll need about 300 hp of nos to get into the 8's if you are in the mid 9's on the engine.

My car runs 9.50's and I need a 300 hp plate to get into the 9's

Ok you'll need 180 rearwheel hp so maybe a 250 kit will do it.

I have a 250 plate, but it makes me wonder how you have yours set up to only gain 1/2 sec on a 300 shot. I was gaining a full sec on a 180 shot with my last combo, but that was with a lot less power 410 HP on engine and 567 Hp with the 180 shot. I went from 11.6s to 10.6s.
Truth is I really don't need to get into the 8s I'm just getting use to the 9s more of a dream really, plus not sure I want to push my luck with all I have invested. I'm just having fun.

, i hate autos with a passion i have absolutly no use for them other then in a cummins powerd p.u.

i have an image in my head from a bunch of years back. A local cattle sales yard came to pick up a cow with a 20' (could be off) trailer and a 1 ton ram cummins truck. I remember the engine starting to take off. Then str
arts screaming and about a minute later the truck starts to take off from its starting location. Ever since i have thought pulling trucks and automatics dont mix.
I find it funny that dodge is the only truck that offers a manual tranny in their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.
I only ever drive manual transmissions which is why my dart is going 4 speed.

Someday I plan a jerico but for now the old school feel of the 833 will have to do.

Check out the link below for a go pro view from in the car at the track.

Dude, you're not suppossed to lift the loud pedal!

I have raced 4 speeds but it got to be too much of a money pig so I went to an auto. I would love to put a Jerico or a Lenco in my car. Maybe someday when my brother straightens up, he's a hunchback.

4 speed for me. Best of 10.16 with a 440. Factory crank OOTB EZ's and six pack rods. Its a blast, and going to be quicker this winter.

Automatics are great for women.....and minivans
Dang thats what is wrong with my minivan. I keep reaching down to shift it, but every time I do, it catches another gear by itself lol.

i run a 1970 .030 340, standard 318-3 truck crank, stock bushed 340 rods, heavy trw 13.1 pistons, ported j heads with ductile iron rockers and a solid camshaft. i can say that the 23 spline worked very good but in a 3365 lb car it was hard on third gear so i switched to a 1-1 4th doug nash and no more problems. my car is a 1970 dart and has run a best of 94.75 on a 7.13 with a 1.52 60' on super stock springs with a 9x29.5 tire and a 5.13 gear. this car has bolt in frame conectors (not recommended). motor and running gear is in stock location.

Does 5spd count?

My current build is gonna be back with a stock style T5 this year and the next year or so a tax return is gonna get me an astro rebuilt kit so it can handle 500tq and take the abuse of a nitrous'd magnum 5.9

i hope to find a 4 speed to race in my duster, and man i wish i could find a gal that loves mopars and 4spds, that would be love, lol

I have a four speed and a five speed, If I could find a shifter for the four speed I'd instal it in my Duster when I do the engine swap. All my daily drivers have been manuals too, my left foot and right hand get bored if I don't have something to shift... Not to mention the tingle that goes down my spine ever time I do a perfect heel-toe downshift coming into a corner.

here is a buddies 4 spd dart he races

Big surprise - I run a 4 speed. It's a 340 street car, but it runs DOT slicks and has been down the track quite a bit. With a stick, something has to give - the clutch or the tires. If neither one gives, the car will bog off the line or you'll break something. The big boys use a slipper clutch that is externally adjustable and needs attention EVERY year. Plus, they're big bucks.

Earlier this year, I messed up my rear end (that doesn't sound right) - haven't had it apart yet. The trans still seems ok. 23 spline. My Centerforce dual-friction has about had it though. Great on the street, but doesn't last at the track.

Slightly on topic, if any of you know of any 'vette fans looking to convert their automatic to a stick, I just put this setup on eBay last night. (It was part of Billy's old parts stash from back in the day when he used to restore Corvettes. The shop heater needs to be replaced and we could use the cash.)
