Looking to build a Rotisserie would anyone be willing to share pictures of theirs and specs if possible?

In all honesty I am glad I spent $1200.00 on mine. There is no way I could have engineered, bought all the materials, and with my time factored in built one as nice as the Roto 2000 I own.

If I ever need a second one (which I do, but storage when both are not being used is a floor hog in my mind) I will just buy another one even though I have one to copy sitting right here.

I agree, I could not build one for $1,200. This one is going to be for sale soon at $800.00 (Vancouver, BC). Look for a used one localy. You never know.

I built my rotesserie with drop material from my work. I spent many breaks measuring ,cutting and weighing all the steel (15 cents a lb.) I had to buy 2 tall hydraulic jacks and 6 good size casters which cost about $300. Welding, fitting and drilling I'm guessing took 6 hours. I think next time I would just buy one.

Brad...thats a nice one...and the price is good too. I'm close enough to pick it up.....now if I could find a use for it....!
 
DTMLEVATAN and the best thing is the plans are free! Looks like for 500.00 one could be built I found that yesterday it is simple but simple is good.
 
Guys I appreciate all of your inputs on this rotesserie but money is tight and if I was to purchase a Roto 2000 with only a few of the options it would end up costing me close to 1500.00 and that includes the 350.00 for freight.I could find better things to spend the money on. Building something on your own gives one a certian level of pride and satisfaction. I would also like to throw in to all of you great folks out there a Happy and Healty Holiday Season.

I built this one almost 15 years ago. I just took two 6x6's and placed them into the ground after the car was in place. I took a couple of measurements and then drilled a hole in each 6x6. I placed some pipe in the hole and attached it to a steel plate. In the back I attached the steel plate to an I-beam, and it got attached where the bumper brackets mount to the car. The front plate was C-shaped and was mounted where the bumper brackets mount. Most was done with scrap pieces and the cost was under $100. The most time was spent trying to figure out where to drill the holes in the 6x6's so it would spin easily. I still have all of my metal plates. If I were to ever need one again I would use those plates, but use steel tubing in place of the wood posts.

I've got a Christmas present for you. I found my old file that has a material list & plans to build a rotisserie very close to the one my Valiant is on. I bought they thinking I would build my own. After I priced out the material it was more economical to buy one. The file are to large to down load here but, if you send you e-mail address I will be happy to e-mail you a copy "OR" if some on cal explain to me how to post here I will be happy to.

When I bought mine, it included a set of plans for a body cart, utility trailer and a body roller. When I priced it out, the materials were about $500 as I recall. It is all 0.118" wall tubing, so you will need a good way to cut it 'cuz you won't be doing it with a hack saw! You can see some pictures of how it turned out on my resto thread......

It works very well for a basic unit. I have thought about adding jacks to the two ends, but for now it will stay as is. I have two other projects that I need to deal with, so by then I may add them. Good luck, you won't regret getting one of these, they make life soooooooooo much easier!!!! L8r
