reproduction fender tags legal?

exactly. how many mopars are LEGALLY registered across the u.s. in every state , without a trim tag?every day. how many cars are LEGALLY bought and sold and plated missing or incorrect trim tag and the new owners have no clue there is even supposed to be one or that it even has the VIN # on it? everyday. a trim tag is like adding a hood scoop in the laws eyes.no where on any paperwork do you need any information off of the trim tag to buy, sell or register a car anywhere in the u.s. when a vehicle is reported stolen, the information is pulled off of the registration VIN# and cross-referenced with the dash VIN # and nothing else."numbers matching" vehicles are for the purist and the hobbyist, and what makes them valuable is all the documentation and visual numbers proving that the VIN matches the motor/trans/sequence numbers on the body stampings/trim tag/build sheet etc.etc.
You are correct thru the yes of the DMV...but to knowing and willfully sale a product that is misrepresented is fruad and a CIVIL lawsuit can be won by the prosacutor. It's no different than sewing a casmere tag on a wool sweater just to raise the value, happens all the time.I would tread lightly when considering falsifing a fender tag, reprodusing one that is damaged with proper buildsheet seems fine but with ambulance chasing lawyers running around aho knows.
