reproduction fender tags legal?

yes absolutely. i have never and would never try to pass off any car as such, that it is not.there are those out there that do all the time. especially when it comes to data plates and VIN tags. the bottom line here is that IF you are to buy or sell a car claiming whatever options, it is up to the buyer or seller to provide or seek proof of such, if it is an issue. but i see no problem with any repopped trim tag as long as it is not used to pass off a car that it is not.but again, it is up to the buyer to take any action to prove otherwise/or the owner to state that the tag is not original to the car.the bigger issue i think is people out there faking high dollar muscle cars, with rebodied cars using hemi and six pack VIN tags, restamping trim tags to show options, but thats why build sheets are so important.they reflect every option and drivetrain code and the VIN# and back up the trim tag. i have never heard nor seen a fraudulent build sheet.but im sure they are out there.
