I have heard that most newer cars are only built to last 9-10 years. I guess they thought if they built them to last forever, who would ever buy a car? 16 yo getting their license for the first time.
I can think of a few newer vehicles that have an air filter that can't be replaced (sealed air cleaner/element assembly), and a few with non-serviceable/sealed transmissions too :wack:
Or the heater core on the Saab 900's, out of all the Saab 900's I've had come in for a leaking heater core, it wasn't the core leaking. It was the fittings that connect to the core (they're plastic and they break). Guess what though, the new/replacement cores don't come with those fittings, and they're not a part you can buy new either :wack: I had to fabricate new fittings from steel tubing for each job
