hi guys,
just a rant about how loving mopars comes with its own set of problems,i have 3 brothers,my oldest bro is 45 and he owns a 58 imperial coupe with a 392 hemi and is currently building a stroker 360 for his soon to be duster, then there is greg who,s 42 he owns 2 56 chevys,a 68 chevelle and a roaster chevy drag car and an altered drag car,all his cars run big block chevys, then there is glen who,s 40,he owns a 340 72 dodge challenger and a hq holden, which is like a 70 monte carlo/chevelle which has a big block chev in it,then there is me who is 38 and i own a 73 cuda with a 451 i,m currently building,a 59 saratoga 2 dr coupe with a 383 and a 354 1956 imperial coupe hemi which needs resto,so out of us 4 ,me a nd my eldest brother are mopar nuts we would,nt own anything but, glen has a foot in each door, but is probably more partial to his challenger, the problem lies with the brother that owns all the chevs, our family has become divided because of the age old chevy vs mopar argument,he races his chevs at the drags and i really should support him with his racing, but i really dont have any interist in helping race chevs in fact i dont have much interist in chevs at all, cause i can never stop thinking/living mopar,my oldest brother is the same we eat ,sleep and breathe mopar, every family barbie and get together there is an air of resentment in the air because he knows what i,ve been up to (working on mopars) and i know what hes been up to working on chevs and we dont have any interist in each others projects cause we got nothing in common,i just cant help my passion and love for mopars, and i,ll be honest i simply wouldn,t own a chev there everywhere here and i,m not a sheep /follower,will there ever be a day that us mopar people will be able to play sucessfully with gm and ford guys,no wonder they hold mopar specific car shows and race days,i honestly dont think we play well with others,w:violent1:e seem to abide by the quote of (birds of a feather flock together)

Personally if the Chevy/mopar thing is coming between family I think you all need to grow the hell up.

Never understood the not getting along with Chevy or Ford guys. I have a few good Chevy and Ford friends. We help each other out if one needs help. Sure we bust balls but the make of car we are into is only one of many things we bust balls about.

The whole mopar or no car thing is just stupid to me. Yes I used think that way when I was a kid but then I grew up and had some very poor experiences with new mopars and realized that mopar doesn't give a **** about me oo anyone else. I mean seriously is mopar going pay your bills if you fall in hard times? Build what you like but don't live or die with it . Me I like and appreciate all makes and models. Your missing out if you don't atleast appreciate what work is into other makes.

x2, if your family is on rocky terms over something as stupid as a war of the manufacturers than you guys need to sit down and rethink some things.

I LOVE mopar..... BUT I like styles of other makes and I have owned other makes and I don't see any problem with them.

I actually get a kick out of talking crap with friends and people you run into that do the "fan boy" talk. I can appreciate the work put into any car (even the little rice burners which im not much of a fan of lol).

to be honest though..... Im just happy to know that there are still people out there that enjoy the hobby and help keep it alive. rather it be chevy, mopar ford, honda ....whatever...

atleast there are people out there trying to conserve americas history.

I have a few friends that are diehard Ford guys, I'll tell ya it gets old with all the childish comments they make....I know they are just picking but it gets to be a real pain in the *** because its nonstop.

X3
I think there's more issues between you than brand loyalty.
Get some professional help that will help all of you to grow up.
Remember, the gasoline that goes in the tanks to make these cars run is the same.....
Unless you're brand loyal to that too!
Shell gas is better than Chevron! No it's not!
Pepsi is better than Coke! No it's not!
It's all about personal choices and tastes......
I'm not roasting you man, but i find it's a childish way to live your life.
And it's not worth it.
Just sayin'........

Don't get too down on yourself, there are over zealous brand loyalists in every hobby and for every brand.
Start to worry when you begin heated arguments at the mere mention of the good points of other brands with people who share your preference for MoPars.

You are all car guys and you are complaining??? I guess you have no idea that you have it 100% better than most. I have 3 brother in laws and a father in law, Great guys but they have zero appreciation for cars. There into golf, baseball, football, and video games. Never opened the hood of a car. Can't change a light bulb. I hate most televised sports so holidays are painful for me. Want to trade??? I would rather go racing with your GM brother than lay around the house watching game after useless game yelling at the TV. And bragging about how great their team is.

I flew down to the turkey run in Daytona on thanksgiving weekend with Chevy guys to get away from the couch potato sports fans.

I really don't know what to say, I'm loyal to classic Chrysler Cars and Trucks and loyal to modern Ford Trucks. My family and I owned our Ford van since 12-15-98 (yes I remember the exact date) and it is like a member of the family, it has emotional value attached to it. Someone ripped on it, because it's age has been catching up with it rather quickly, lately, and I was about to cold-**** them. He was some Chevy punk. I understand what you mean. Think it over. However, in the end they're cars...Is it that more important than your brother?

i have always had friends that are brand X owners. who else am i going to talk smack to? hell, thats half the fun. cars are cars and brothers are people. you can replace a car, but you cant replace a brother. you guys need to loosen up and learn to talk crap to each other in a good way and settle it at the track and be brothers at home. IMO

Matt,
I've worked on automobiles for over 35 years. And I'll tell you that Mopars are my Favorite when it come rite down to it. And I'll also tell you I'm a lone wolf...
But I sure the hell would not get into arguments with my family over it !!!!!!!! Now that Bull ****....
Passion is good... But don't let it blind you.... Family outings with cars are the best I think.

some very good points made, yes we do all need to grow up a bit at times, dont get me wrong we do all hang out and get on,theres just some disrespectfull comments made about each others products at times,my brother is a die hard drag racer, and has followed the sport all his life, and if it isnt a chevy engine to him its just junk, most of the records in drag racing are chevs over here, you mention the pro class,s that are all held by hemi,s and he,ll tell you there not chrysler,s,there brad andersons, keith blacks, allan johnson race engines and so it goes,i understand this, but i also understand that without what mopar built these engines would of never come about,he races a raptor headed big block,a engine built by reher morrison, well i aint never seen a chevy factory head anything like those suckers, nowadays nothing is like it seems in engines with the advent of the aftermarket, dart industries make 11 inch deck height chevs, the new ls1 chevs are a deep skirt cross bolt block, think i,ve seen something like that before 18 degee heads vs 23 degee, you could argue all day,i hardly talk these days,i just keep it all inside,i know what i know and i know this if your a true drag racing fan how could you not respect ma mopar, they helped pioneer the sport with there engines, trans ect,we live in the age of aftermarket, nothing is factory anymore anyway.some people believe it takes a chev and a powerglide to win and maybe it does but i,m glad i,m not one of them, besides winning aint everything and i feel like a winner from just owning mopars,by the way i love all american iron, buicks olds, everything,i geuss chevs are just a little to popular for me,my brother even thinks pontiacs and buicks are junk why-- because they cant go down a quarter mile as fast as a chev, theres abit more to life than 400 yards of straight road :banghead:

What do you guys do for a living, that you can afford the car hobby and still have time to be so concerned which brand is better. I spend so darn much time working to pay taxes, I don't have time to criticize others choices in hobbies. I do have to admit I do get aggravated with the Chevy racer crowd. there are a couple of local places were these types hang out and talk trash. I stop by for about 15 minutes every 10 years or so. Same losers same trash talk. I'm good for another ten years. I hang with an older crowd. If I pulled up with an old rusty Edsel they would think it was cool. Most of my friends have there favorites Mopar, Olds, Chevtolet, Ford, Porsche, Cobra, Street Rod etc. We all Love the car hobby and wouldn't even consider criticizing someone on there tastes in cars trucks boats planes whatever.
A great example of this was when I was at the Saratoga auto Museum on a Saturday Morning. I parked my 67 Barracuda survivor car between a F-40 and a Ferrari. They were climbing all over my car. They loved it and had nothing but complements.

Very well said!

.............Heck.........some of my friends own brand X rides.....there will always be a rivially between the brands........i appreciate all the muscle car/hot rods as those guys/gals put the same passion/love into their rides.....kim........

Think back to before you ever had cars, what caused the friction between you brothers? Because the resentment probably goes back to some other issues but it has manifested itself in the car rivalry. Maybe you can start spending more time with your brothers and when the arguments start don't play into them. If you have a good family you should try to stay close, there may be a time when you need each other, and cars won't mean a damn.

Competition is great..... ant it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeee Haaaawwww.... Lets go racing boy.....
But dont you just love it when a mopar win over that many chevys !!!!!!!!!!! I Do !!!!

I'm a Mopar man, down to my bones. My bestest bud is a diehard chivy guy,(so is my wife,...heavy sigh)),...I helped him build his ElCamino,...He's helpin me with the Spacer. What we have in common is the sweet sound of a good old fashioned american V8,....We've had some screamin matches to be sure,...(especially when I tell him that pound for pound and dollar for dollar a 340 is far superior to a 350), but we wouldn't let our diff in cars come between us.

hey jaimus, tell me why a 340 is better than a 350 pound for pound, dollar for dollar,i wont argue with you,i,ll listen with great intent,so guys tell me what are your reasons for loving mopar engines over brand x engines,is it deck height, valve angle, lifter size, block construction, heads, what do you think are special about them,i,m just interisted in hearing some technical points on why you think there great compared to the opposition, leave hemis out of the discussion, when your running 4 second quarter mile times,no explainin needs to be done, just your thoughts on big and small block wedges, personally i just love mopar big blocks with there deep skirt block with that crank tucked up inside the block and how you can girdle em because none of the caps hang below the pan rails,i love seeing a bare big block on the engine stand, basically a passenger car top feul block sitting right there ,they got that engine so right especially when its cross bolted:prayer:
