That looks like a local car I have seen at Spring Fling in Woodley Park. The car was pretty nicely done. I'm sure at $30,000 grand the owner was hoping for more and the buy will be getting a very different car for a decent price. Not really the car I would buy at $30K but thats me.

Hey Z..

I'll be out your way Feb 4-9th.. Anything auto going on that might interest me??? I know my wife won't be happy!!! lol

Bob

Gold? Pull the Hemi out and stick a 273 in there and see if it gets that much LOL :D I don't think we need to have Barrett Jackson raise our A-body prices to the E-body level. That car was nice though!

How much was the Hemi alone worth? I would say the guy who built the car lost his ***. Hope he had some fun with it before he sold it. Not a bad car and would be awesome on the track.

528's will run you close to $20K with all the extra's, Carb/Headers/Forced Air (scoop/Cowl/Cold-Air).

$10K for a re-inforced framed, Updated Suspension, Narrowed Rear, custom paint Early A Plus $20K for the engine. My thought is the seller didnt come close to breaking even..

Personally I hope the Pro Builders never discover the early A bodies.. they will just price the last affordable group of A bodies out of existence...
I like it better back when used Dusters and their like were $500-1000 dollar cars.. never again. With a few rare exceptions...

alan im with u there man this is how it gos just think what this will do to the price of the 64 to 66 barracuda lol

Wouldn't want our early A's to gain in popularity so vendors would actually make some parts for them.....:wack:

Wow that is great sounds like a resto may be a good investment

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Who ever bought that Dart got one hell of a deal, 30k just about covers the drivetrain/suspension, he got the rest of the car for free.

Funny how every body talks about how original is the only way to get good money with an old car but that thing is only a shell, everything else is custom.I guess that blows that theory out of the water.Granted it has alot invested but 33,000 for a "custom" ride.

i think the scoop looked like crap tho
With you on that call! If you're going to cut the hood for a big block(or any block), a Max Wedge clone would have looked way better! A little more period correct, vintage even.

So, all in all does that make my 63, 340 Moredoor worth more?
More doors, less engine... it should equal up! Plus a little! Right??

You need snow tires............ Just kidding that thing looks great. I have no problem with two doors too many.
I have gone to Barrett several times to sell and you never know what something will bring.Timing is everything. I was dumbfounded as I watched a custom purple 57 chevy 4 door with a 350 auto and cheep wheels, never thinking that it would pass 20K. the bidding kept going and going and the gavel fell at 101k !! I thought this might be a mistake but all it takes is 2 people that want it. Alot of "Whoos Johnson is bigger goes on there"..

It's my first MoPar Love! Just finished(almost)mini tubs & SS relocate. The 340 in a 63 was challenge & can't wait for my next ??? A for sure!
Thanks!

I looked at that car yesterday. 33K really supprises me. Car wasn't that bad however i guess with the hemi that's what brought on the $$$$

Just an FYI A 66 Dart GT, 273 4 speed car will be going on the block at Russo Steel Saturday evening

Sort of the double edged sword I guess.. until the things get valuable, anything reproduced or fabricated is done as a labor of love.. and if there is more than a one-off made, the price tends to be high.

I removed myself from a Mopar oriented Facebook page, mostly because the admin who started it is a converted "new stuff" guy who seemed to think that the new engines are the only way to go. I admit they are a hell of a design and wil be great once they get some age on them, and the price comes down. But right now, you have to be either a rich man or one of those talented folk who can fabricate what can't be bought, or know people who can.. and it doesn't hurt to be an electical genius either.

I guess this sorta strayed from the topic.... don't we have an "Off Topic"
smiley? LOL!

Alan
