Michael I don't know if it is a lighting issue with the one in the 2nd pic but it looks like the top part of the splines are more "pointy" and the lower section is a "duller" cut. Does it look that way in person or are they all "pointy"?
I looked at a 727 yoke I have in the garage and it has the "duller" looking splines like the one in your top picture.
