Would everyone be against using Mustang II disc brakes?

Hey all,
As some know, I am trying to gather ideas and put together some different aftermarket products for the Mopar crowd. I am looking into a tubular Kmember, and a friend mentioned how cheap all of the Mustang stuff was. If I put together a complete kit, with EVERYTHING including Kmember, lower control arm, spindles, disc brakes, etc...and it used Mustang II components, would the die hards kill me for putting a Mustang part on a Mopar?
It seems the most logical way to keep the cost down as it seems every company sells products for the Mustang II spindles.
How many would frown on this, and how many would be okay with it? Complete disc brake sets can be had for less than $300 for the Mustang II spindles, although I would probably let the customer buy their own brake setup, as the options are endless.
I am just trying to put some prices together to see how cheap I could make these units. Let me know your opinions...

Don't see why not. The AlterKtion uses Mustang II spindles. Not only do they cost less but you have way more of a brake selection to pick from.
 
I will be using later Mustang (94 -04) rear discs on my 8.75. The adapters were machined by another member at a good savings compared to other set-ups. I'm all for saving money.
 
I'm all for it, except mustangs are 5x4.5 and the kit may not appeal to everyone with an early A body
 
theres a bunch of guys using 8.8 exploder rears so why not add rustang discs on the front,if you can save a few bucks im in:cheers:
 
I can't imagine they're will be more than a couple people with actual dough & ambition for the swap that will want to keep things small bolt.

I'd have no problem putting mustang brakes on my ride. It would be nice to see a complete kit that wasn't near $4000. That's just too rich for me.

I already have SBP slots and am looking to keep them, was thinking about going with 73+ big ball joint spindles with redrilled volare rotors for the 4" bolt pattern
 
Yeah, I thought about the SBP guys...but that may just be the way it has to be. Thanks for the positive feedback! I am more excited than ever...after dinner I'll put some prices together to see what it will take to do this whole deal.

As Ford built them, Mustangs were 4 lug from '74 to '93, except for the SVO. But there are aftermarket kits based on the '74 to '78 (Pinto) front end available in probably any pattern one could want.

Whatever keeps the cars on the road. I'd rather see a ratty Mopar driving to work with Toyota parts in it, than a $60k concourse "quality" trailer trash any day of the week.
 
Kelsey Hayes made disk brakes for Mopar and ford in 65...Its all good. Hard to stomach a heart transplant though!

kelsey Hanyes, theres a name that means money and hard to find. I could admagine what napa would say if I casually walked in on a saturday morning and asked for a caliper. IF they had one I would have to work the whole week to pay for just one:wack:
 
The purists will have a problem with it but :finga: them. But this is coming from a guy who will have a gm trans and a ford rear under the car....

yupp early mustangs were 4 bolt, same as capri and I believe pinto. I would rather go with Mustang 5 bolt if I didn't have another mopar choice as its easy to get (likely going with redrilled F's or M's as thats what I have), pinto... well they haven't made those in nearly 30 years

Maybe you can help me. I am looking for a front disc brake conversion kit for my 71 Demon, 4.5 bolt pattern. What would you suggest without breaking the bank? Thanks.
 
I would not use mustang II anything on anything.

Its all made for a lightweight fubar. Just an opinion but like all hardware made heavy duty for years of abuse.

do yourself a huge favor. build what you want to build and don't mention that it will be or may be cheaper then any other product thats all ready out there and proven until yours is done and proven.. you will save yourself a huge headache.

stock late model single piston 4X4.5" set up
not hard to find, not expensive, work great

rockauto has them from $49 per side rebuilt
 
i dont think it would be a problem for most cause most of the 1's out there where using mustang 11 stuff for there parts long ago..lol have made some changes from back then but it work out great for them i think...:D

Very good advice...thank you. Been there done that sort of thing...LOL. I have mentioned the price of a complete tubular front end to a couple guys, and have gotten "negative" type feedback already...looks like I wont be building a complete setup. Probably a K-member to use all stock components, and tubular UCA's, and LCA's.
I have some ideas for rear suspension...so maybe I can focus there...LOL.
