I had set my Valiant coupe was set up to be my daily driver, with big disc brakes, upgraded suspension, blah blah blah...

Going to work on Tuesday morning in the fast lane people panic stopped in front of me. No problem slowing down for them, but the Valiant kind of slid to the right, not out of control, just kind skidded.

Then I got clipped by a big rig, which is ultimately what destroyed the frame and front end and spun me out. It was a hard impact!

Here is a link to more pictures on my website:
Wreck of my 1967 Plymouth Valiant

Take a peek, I was surprised how bad the damage was after I got the hood peeled off. Cracked bellhousing, mangled engine mount, shattered alternator. Crazy!

I'm okay physically, I feel incredibly lucky to not have been hurt, but I'm super bummed about the car. :(

ripped that car right apart. lucky your ok..

why did the car skid? hit something slick or did ya just slam the brakes too hard?

And she be done. Glad your ok, what car are you gonna replace it with.

old school crumple zones....Glad your OK. That is my fear too, with rather skinny runners on mine..

I say save it!!!!!!!!!! Find a 4 door with a clean front clip and start removing spot welds. It's only metal. I have seen far worse rusty cars fixed and they weren't even running when started. Don't give up on her!!! Ask around on here there is probably someone with the sheet metal you need.

WOW I'm sorry for your loss. It looks like the floorboard wasn't tied to the frame rail very well.

That's tough. The roadways are dangerous these days, the Valiant may have saved you.

Joe, Don't know why it skidded. To be honest the only way I can explain it is the front end felt like it was "wagging" back and forth until I got hit. I don't even remember leaving my lane but it all happened pretty quick.

Dusted, it's just not worth fixing. Here in California I should be able to get into another driving non-wrecked '67-'69 Valiant two door for $2000 or less. I paid $300 for this car and it ran and drove with the OG black Cali plates, just needed to rebuild the front end. I added the 4 speed and fun goodies as I went along.

Thanks guys!

I agree with dusted72! A front clip, and some handywork on the cowl, and it would be better than new! And...a great time to upgrade! Badarts tubular stuff, big bolt discs with AR brackets, etc. I love the post cars, and it looks clean. Or, fix the metal, replace what parts broke, and keep driving it! Obviously, its good luck. It kept you safe. Which, by the way, I'm glad to see!

Edit--I just read your post. Man, I wish there were clean cars like that in ohio. For less than double, or triple, what you paid.

That think is going to need a lot more than "a front clip." Glad you're OK. Anything that busts a bell up like that is a hard hit.

Damn...looked like a hell of a hit....Glad you are ok

i'm glad you are ok, with only your heart broke

you can replace the car but your family and friends couldnt replace you :D

Glad you are ok.

Strip off all the good parts and save them for the "next generation" Valiant you get to replace it. Recycling at its best.

It sucks to have to start all over after all the work you put in it to get it ready for a daily driver.

That's too bad Scott and glad your OK. Is this the car you put that 4-speed trans. in that I sold you a while back?

John

I'm glad you're ok, butt..time to change your underwear too! LOL! I think I'd try to fix it too. New subframe and front clip???

Glad you were not hurt. You can get another car.
