Totalled the Valiant... :(

Sad to see the car, but very glad that you survived unscathed. You can own many cars, but you only get one go around to drive them.

Sorry to hear about the car, glad you're ok though!

I agree on the car, cheaper and easier to find another than rebuild that one. Really too bad though. I'd check to see what the insurance company wants for it, it may be worth your while to buy the car back and part it out. Lots of good parts left on there, and you might be able to get most of your "upgrades" off the car to transfer to the next one.

*edit*

Hey, this one isn't too far from you...

happy you ok but sad you lost your car. hopefully some pieces of it can go to a good home.

You car was Valiant keeping you safe to build another.
I know how bad you must feel, and we are so glad to see you are walking and talking, looks like a hard brutal hit.......

It was, I'm really glad that I'm okay, I have a little boy who depends on me. :)

The car is in my driveway and I'm not going to claim it on my insurance (not worth the rate hike!) so I won't have to buy it back.

Couple of members have already expressed interest in parts so after I get a new body I'll get to taking it apart. Several cars will be able to benefit from this one's demise.

Ouch! Glad your ok, and if that was a Smartcar you'd be lucky to without serious injuries.

Glad your ok, that is some Carnage! That frame is scary how the factory welds seperated!

Scott- count your blessings, partake in a 'new' ride, and recycle as much off the car as possible. Good plan, IMHO

Glad your OK.. If he would of been in a newer car like the 2000 and up it would of looked like a train hit it.. Be glad you were in an old car.. I got hit in the driver side of my 01 Dakota R/T and it messed me up really bad for about 3 years. And the 17yr old girl that hit me was only running 40 mph or so the cops said in a 25mph .. And was talking on her cell and didn't see the stop sign.. It really sucked.. And totaled the truck bent the frame and pushed the door into the steering wheel and separated the cab at the top and the bottom.. Truck looked like a horse shoe..

looks like the perfect car to start a tube chassis and tilt glass front on!

remember... lemonade out of lemons...

damn it gave its life for u .. two good thing i hear from this ur going to get anuther val and ur still talking .. u can replace the car .. not ur life but hay part it out good man the last car that we parted saved 7 cars and when we was done 3 for us picked it up and sat it on the tralier !

On your website, you wrote about good parts left to move to your next A body. That is the spirit! Did you test your brakes in a parking lot after the disk upgrade? That is the place to see how it handles panic stops and skids. I assume you had a proportioning valve for the rear drum brakes. Adjustable ones are best so you can dial it in for your tire setup.

sorry man! i'm glad your OK. all that damage and that lil plastic fuel filter didn't crack or break! that would have been really bad if that happened....

The brakes had been adequately tested, both after the install and during numerous backroad road race adventures. See one here: Norm's Geezer Cruise

They stopped flat and neither end locked up before the other. Like I said I really don't know what happened this time.

Bruce contacted me about the one in Salinas, I offered to buy it immediately but another gentleman had call to it first, so it's probably not coming my way unfortunately.

I need to get into another slant six A-body soon, I've been driving my 1970 Challenger with a 440 and a 4 speed since I wrecked the Valiant and she's a thirsty girl. My one and half year old son seems to like riding in it, he's not afraid of the rumble or the acceleration which is pretty sweet.

When I part it I'll definitely save everything I can and after I find a new A-body I'll know what I need and don't need.

Sure looked like you were making it into a nice cruiser! Sorry for the loss of this one...may it live on longer as a part of another few classics.

Read your waywardgarage page...good stuff!
