Hi I had planned on just buying a new black package tray for the 70 Duster from year one, till I found out the shipping was more then the tray. So since mines in good shape just faded with a little bit of water spotting, I thought I try and restore it.Any body have any luck painting them, and if so what type of paint did you use. I was thinking of maybe vinyl paint, but I"m not sure, since Its some sort of fiber board.

Any ideas ??

Vinyl die would be my first choice for painting it. I got my new one from Dante's Parts. His shipping is much less then Year Ones. However my new one doesnt fit all that great. Its about 1" short.

I did a search on the subject and I sounds like most have had a problem with
the repro's fitting, which seams strange since Its would seam like one of the easies parts to repro. maybe I'll try the dye on a small area before I do the whole thing.

Hey, Krylon has a new water based spray paint that is great on paper products. Wally-world has it and it's not that expensive

That's what I did on my Cutlass except I went to my local upholstry(sp?) shop to get my vinyl and panel board. If you go this route make sure and use good adhesive that is heat resistant.

Hi, I was just thinking of getting a new package tray for my 1970 Dart from Dante's. My old one does not have speaker cut outs and it is ripped in half. Does yours look OK? Do you regret getting it? Thanks.

I was thinking about going this route, but I'm not sure how to deal with the factory speaker grill cut into the board.
