1963 426 stgII max wedge
I thought that 63 was the first year of the 426 MW, therefore all stage I's were 413...
Didn't work like that, but many people think that makes sense, because it sounds good.
The Stage 2 engine was not released until June '63, so where does that leave all of the earlier built '63 MW cars (August '62-May '63)?
The stage 2 426 had some very minor improvements over the early 426 "stage 1". The June 18th, 1963 in-house memo says the camshaft, carbs and heads were changed/re-worked to improve performance and that the new engine will be designated as a Stage 2.
The engine for sale here is a "Stage 1" 426 T-MP. If it were a 426 Stage 2, the id pad would read
426 T-MP-2
The first 426 TMP-2 engine was built on 5-31-63
