My question:

Should I fit the old radio (which is not working) or fabricate a blankin' plate and blank-off the hole, paint it the same gloss black and have a more cleaner look?

Any suggestions or comments on this are welcome :)

Can't quite tell, has it been cut out? If not I would just use a factory blanking plate. Mine was cut out a little and the blanking plate all but covered it.

1966DartConvertible,

Salamat Siang (isteriku dari Indonesia).

Your dash looks much different than my 65 Dart's. You do have the Rally cluster, plus the regular dashes were different in 66 U.S. models (rectangular speedo). But I think the main difference is the right-hand drive. Those dashes were probably a custom build.

I suggest looking for "HD Radio" on ebay. I got 2 for ~$20 ea. They have a thin faceplate that is easy to adapt to your dash, with a cable to a small base unit you can mount anywhere behind the dash. Besides giving you HD reception, they can pick up regular broadcasts as well. You do need a separate amp. I haven't installed mine yet, so am just relating the claims.

I'm gonna havta turn those around. Just don' look right

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, much better......................

I would put the old radio back in gut it but leave the light in it so the bezel lights up at night with the headlights , makes everything look right . Use the money you saved to rechrome the dash

I was thinkin' the same thing. Putting the old one back in and lighting it up sounds like a good idea. Anyone else agree?

Heck you cant even find a single speaker in the car at the moment so who needs a working radio, right? :) The sound of that Slant Six can be my "entertainment" for now...

Personally, I think that is ONE cool lookin' radio. Who made it? Kinda reminds me of some of the layouts I've seen of Blaupunkt equipment

It says "Philips" at the top right corner. Im away from my hometown (which is where the car is at the moment) so I cant take a look and verify whats the model/serial number etc.

Will be visiting mom there this weekend though, so should get some progress done on the car :)

I hate to tell you this, but your steering column and driver controls seem to be installed in the wrong side of the car:poke::toothy10:

how come you didn't put A/C back in?

I don't like a dash that is cut to make another fit...I would rather hide the new one,fix or mod the old one. My 2 cents

Some one hacked a big hole in my dash for a radio. So I filled it in. Should of put some thing behind it to back up the butt joint. it cracked and I still need to go back and fix it.

What is the switch on the bottom right? Power top? The one on the far left is a lighter? It's interesting to see that your brake pedal is like our manual transmission type instead of a big one that our automatics use. The instruments look like our '65 Valiant/Cuda but the whole cluster shape is more like the '65 Dart or '66 Barracuda.

Yeah, far right bottom is the switch for the power top. On top, from right side is headlight switch, wiper switch, lighter, and the round handle for the glovebox (which I cant find it at the moment, must be in the garage somewhere). Bottom, from right is the power top, ignition, and to the left of the steering wheel is another toggle switch for my hi/lo beam (I added that to replace my broken foot switch which I have patched the hole so that the floor look "clean").

I believe the "wide" brake pedal, if used on this RHD car, will block the foot switch for the H-Beam.

As for the layout, yeah I agree the gauges look kinda like the US 65 'Cuda instead of the square ones like in US model '66 Darts.
