Painting the master cylinder

i worked at a hot rod shop for a while.every part of the suspension(spindles, caliper brackets, etc)including the rotors and calipers had to be painted what ever the frame was painted.i wiped the parts with laquer thinner, etch primed, urethaned primed, then base cleared all the parts after the machined surfaces and rubber bushings, etc. were taped up.Some of the cars were driven alot, and the paint stayed just as shiny as the rest of the car with just normal car was soap.never bistered, bubbled or anything.BUT!dot 5 brake fluid is the ONLY brake fluis that will not harm paint.evreything else,dot3,4,will eat the paint off,if it is allowed to remain saturated for a long time, but the base clear and single stage urethane is way more resillient than anything in a spraycan
