how to get 340 into 12,s

thanks guys alot of good info to digest here,of course we will do the simpler things first like timing and carb adjustments,when we bought the converter we gave them all the cam specs ect and they apparently built it accordingly at 3500,i get a feeling this engine could run the numbers just a successfully with a dual plane and a vac secondary,this big single plane and spacer obviously needs big revs and lots of air speed to get it to be affective off the line,from what i,ve read a vac sec is better with an auto,a dp is hard to get off line,probably extra hard with this big cam we got
