1974 dart. 225 /6. 1 bbl with less than 10k, newer motor. been bored .030 over. i know it doesnt really matter too much in a grocery getter, but what is the red line on this motor?

thats about what mine shifts at with it to the floor.... just wanted to make sure that my tach was working correctly

The Problem with the/6 is you run out of breath. If you open up the exhaust 2.25 or 2.5 you will gain some rpms quick.

what about split exhaust mani with dual flowmaster?? that and at least a 2bbl carb, bet that would def do some good...

Stock valve springs are only good for about 4600 or so. I have already killed a set on my junk shifting at 5000 on spray. (6 passes is all it took)

A motor with a stock 1bbl and single exhaust will really suck wind about 4500 anyway. It will rev higher, but will not make any power above 4400 or so.

If yours is shifting at 3500 in drive, you can try lengthening the kick-down linkage and see if it will move the shift higher.

its really no biggie to me... it doesnt get reved over 2200 or so anyway, i normally just creep. but every now and then i wind er out a lil, just make sure she can still strech er legs.
