you'll find exhaust to be the biggest problem. What i would do if i was doin one would be to build a low deck motor. Exhaust would be easier because the engine is narrower. A 451 would be nice in an early a. Also, fwiw, a single large carburetor would be way more efficient and make way more power than an out dated cross ram.....course it aint near as excitin to look at.
