Are the factory scoops mounted with out ant type of gasket? I did search and found some great info in regards to locating and drilling the correct locations on the hood. I assume they just get "bolted" to the hood.

......but there is a plastic "top hat" that screws into the round holes in the hood, under the rear of the scoops. L8r

I Orderd a set of Repo's from Dale's Cuda shop, Would you happen to have a pic of the "top hat" ?

Thanks.

No gasket but special nuts . there is a shoulder on the scoop that sticks through the hole in the hood. The nut has a deep off set that goes over that shoulder and pulls it through.

When used on a steel hood, no gaskets are needed, but I installed a set on a glass hood
and had some gaps at the mating surfaces. Since both the hood and the scoops were fiberglass, I'm not sure which was not quite flat or if it was just due to stacking of tolerances. My solution was to install vinyl fender welting between the 2 surfaces, this took care of the gaps and the resulting "bead" of vinyl looks pretty good. IMO

I tryed to take some pics of the nuts for a member here a while back. They did not come out to well but here they are just in case they can help some one.

Gaskets where not installed do to they would hold water and would cause paint blistering there for making it a problem.:toothy8:

with the slope of my 70 hood there is no way they would ever hold water unless the front end of the car was off the ground. :D
