Trouble shooting my edelbrock performer carb please

First thing is the choke set right for starting. The choke should be set when the car is cold. Set the choke to be only an 1/8" open after you hit the throttle one time. Does the choke open fully once the car warms up? Make sure your choke is wired in to a 12v connection on the power side on the ignition if not already done. Now for the rods, springs and jets are they the stock ones on the carb or do you know if they were changed. If you do not know, I can check my book and see if the 600 is in it for the stock springs, rods and jets.
