I have run into a snag and dont know quite what to do . The color scheme of the Duster is orange and black,no chrome at all. I originally planned putting the W/S trim back on after it was painted and I bought new clips and put them on before the windsheild and back window went in. But after looking at my trim I really dont want to put it back on the car..Have any of you guys found a decent way to eliminate the trim all together. There is a big gap that needs to be filled between the w/s rubber and body area on the car .
All ideas are welcome.

Doesn't someone make some black, flexible lock strip that fills in the gap and acts as trim? I swear I saw that on the site somewhere...

By the way the locking strip works on the '73 Duster's windshield seal, I've never seen anything that could replace it and serve double duty as a trim to fill the gap. If your trim is in such bad shape, maybe you can get some better pieces for a decent price and have them powder coated as suggested. That would look pretty cool.

Come on guys,

No one has any creative ideas.I kind of like the rubber strip idea if I could find one that would fill the gap and not look cheap.

A high grade black silicone should work. Use an Ice Cube to smooth it out. I've done this on several different things. The ice cube melts and conform's to the surface while you smooth it on. Try a small area and you might just like it. Only cost's a couple buck's to try it and the water from the ice cube doesn't effect the seal.

Have you checked out Autozone the Vinyl trim they sell? It comes in different widths with a adhesive 3-m backing. I have used this on
streetrods I have built for windshield and back glass trim. I have painted it black before with good results if you use a good primer first.

This is what Im talking about keep em coming I like the ideas. I will check out Autozone and the ice cube trick.

Thanks, Bob
