5/16 would be stock size. I would get the 3/8" w/ return since that will allow easier future upgrade to EFI. Just put a stub hose on the return, blocked off until you need it. Use only the more expensive "fuel injection" type hose. The regular "carb" hose will soon fail.

Good advice if upgrading to fuel injection but there's still the problem of a size mismatch (3/8" to 5/16") for your fuel line hose. I'd stick with the stock 5/16" if you're running all stock engine/fuel pump etc.
