I have a cousin with a 350 Small block with a 350turbo tranny and I was wondering on how hard it would be to fit it into a 1972 dodge dart swinger.

Should fit great in the trunk. You might want to put down some plywood first.

why would you want to disgrace a mopar like that . go get a junk yard 318 and trans for it . use the chevy stuff for a trade .

It would fit better in a car manufactured by General Motors. Put a Chrysler motor in the Dart it will be much simpler and cheaper.

yes it will, better yet , i think a 454 would fit better . i would love to line up next to that turd when you are finished with it.

Sure it will! Just the same as a square peg will fit in a round hole. Basically, just because you can make it fit doesn't mean you should.

Why would you even post such a question. I have seen a 440 in Ford Pinto before hauling *** down the track. But if he went on a Ford forum and asked a question like you did he could expect the same responses. He named his car the Pintostar.

yes it will fit.. i had a friend with a twin turboed 355 chevy in his 70 challeger.. man that was funny to see people frown on that at the track.. but personally i wouldnt do it.. if you want a chevy go buy a nova or something dont ruin a dart..

its only a 72 dart...

It'll fit fine and is probably a smart choice in this economy for someone that likes a Mopar body style but is on a very limited income. You can probably build three chebbies for what it costs to build one nice small block Mopar.....but the chebbies will never be what the Mopar is. They can be pretty nice though.

Slowties fit in any thing is it right no, in a MoPar absolutley not put that in a ferd n you got something and it will bring money from the masses.

True SS. But the chev will not last like the moparr, that's a given.Peakier motor with a not so great torque curve, but they are pretty reliable and cheaper than dirt.

gotta agree with this, you'll learn that no matter what car clique you're part of, never bring up cross-branded engine transplants everyone will flip a B$#&%! Do yourself a favor, delete this post, sell/trade the chevy stuff, and get a small block mopar and a 904 and carry on knowing you're dart is pure mopar muscle:cheers:

Truthfully it will probably cost more to modify the SBC to work/fit in a MOPAR and unfortunately all the money you spend will be wasted. No MOPAR guy would touch it and no Chevy guy would buy it either. This swap will be a headache and a total waste of money. Taking out an engine and replacing it with the like engine can be a pain in the rear and you generally run into little problems. A SBC swapped into a MOPAR will be a MAJOR headache and I'm very sure that no one makes a swap kit because this is hardly ever done, if at all.

Gotta agree with everyone on this. Anytime I see a car with an engine from another brand I immediately label it as junk in my mind, UNLESS that engine is a Hemi, a Viper motor or something really unusual like an old nailhead or a 427 Ford Cammer in an old coup or true street rod. Leave the Chebby for a GM product and find some Mopar power for the Dart.

Well seeing that Im only 16 Im trying to get more horsepower for my budget the slant six just isnt cutting it for me so I want something V8 and somewhere close to me

In my enitre life I have seen this swap done only once. And it wasnt even a car I saw in person, just on Pinks. Was a chick driving it.

And just to ease your mind a bit with regards to build costs. The chev will always be cheaper as long as you dont put much cam in it. You can forget cheap when you go to build real h.p with a chevy,as it then catches up to the mopar in costs.

What would get me the biggest bang for my buck if I were to have $800 something thats mopar and easy to work on and put in with out doing alot of work on the car
