Asparagus and Cancer

Engage brains and think critically, folks:

Snopes: Asparagus vs. Cancer

Now, I've always enjoyed most of your posts slantsixdan and believe me, I think you're a hell of a guy, but with that said....

Are we always told by the governments and governmental agencies the truth? No.

Are pharmaceutical companies researching natural remedies? Yes. Are they synthesizing naturally occurring compounds? Yes.

Is it more profitable to treat the symptoms than cure the disease? In the long run, yes.

Do placebos work? Some times. If someone has the belief that a "miracle cure" exits, it can cause the body to accomplish extraordinary things. We also do not know what type of genetics the individuals have who swear by these holistic remedies. They could be doing a number of things that in the right combinations slow or prevent cancer.

So, someone wants their urine to smell funny, and hopes it will cure their cancer. I'm not gonna criticize them for that. I've heard many things that supposedly cure cancer ranging from simpson oil (hemp oil) to asparagus and even devout prayer.

The nice thing about this claim is that it's not a snake oil saleman trying to rip someone off of a ton of money. It has actual health benefits. It's not illegal. It gives some people hope for a better future. It may be wrong, but my aunt is actually dying from stage IV breast, bone, renal (might be liver, don't remember) cancers and if I could give her some hope and solace by buying her some asparagus, you better believe I'd buy her several hundred bushels.

You are right about the smoking though....:D
