I found this write up and pictures on MSN. I want BOTH of these trucks parked in my garage! Man I bet they would sell great if they would produce them! I'd trade my beloved 97 Ram 4X4 for one of these!

Jeep's J-12 and Mighty FC Concepts
Jeep previewed two concept trucks for a handful of journalists earlier this week in Detroit. The first, dubbed J-12, is the red truck you see above; it's basically a modified version of Jeep's JK-8 Mopar pickup kit, a factory-offered conversion kit that turns your modern Wrangler into a pickup. The second, far cooler vehicle is something called the Mighty FC concept. Like the J-12, the Mighty FC is based on a production Wrangler. It pays homage to Jeep's Forward Control trucks, a series of small utility vehicles offered by the brand after World War II.
The Mighty FC and J-12 were constructed for the upcoming Easter Jeep Safari, an annual Jeep gathering in Moab, Utah. The brand has done this sort of thing before -- that is, built one-off vehicles as a gift to Jeep enthusiasts -- but this is the first time one of the concepts has made me giggle with dorky glee. Sadly, there's virtually no chance you'll see either machine in a Jeep showroom any time soon. Ben Wojdyla over at Popular Mechanics has more. And his Facebook page has a shot of the FC's fender-mounted bottle opener. Which is just as cool as it sounds.

I remember when you'd see those J10's all the time.

I even rememer the "forwards".

There's a nice J10 stepside close to me.

A couple of days ago I saw one of those truck kits on a Wrangler.
Was wondering about that.

No thanks. Last time I checked your supposed to move forward, not backwards.

I'd agree 1970 Duster, if the new stuff wasn't listless plastic crap. :/

I love them. I'd love to have them. Hands down. I freaking love them. Both. If given the option, I'm not even sure which I'd pick.

I like the third one the best.

The "third one" is my daily driver for the past 7 years and I get looks and compliments on it all the time. All the trucks this age are either rusted away or beat to crap by some kid off-roading them to death. She's pampered no doubt and is going to get a front light-bar put on this spring and a pair of Hella 5000's mounted. But of the first two, I'd be happy with either and dont know which I'd pick!

I figured it was the '97 you referred to. Very nice. I have a 2001 2500 gasser, myself. I'd love to make it look like yours, but would rather put the money into my Duster.
