I have a 74 Duster with automatic transmission. Need help finding bushings for the brake pedal pivot pin. The pedal has a lot of side to side movement. My 73 parts book shows p/n 2467771 but so far that has not helped either.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Wayne

Thanks for the info. I did not think of brewers because I normally equate them with 4-speed parts.

Talked to Brewers about their brake pedal bushings. I guess there are 3 different size pins retaining the brake pedal. The small, approx .500, the heavy duty .109 and then mine, .810. The large and small are both available from brewers but it seems the .810 pin bushings are nowhere to be found. Bought a pack of replacement bushings from the parts store but they are also too small. Surely I'm not the only person to have this problem. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks, Wayne

Those dimensions I.D. , O.D. , pin or bushing ? Seems to me if you get a bushing that fits to hole you could just change the pin. Someone here will have a pin for you.

The pin O.D is .810 and the brake pedal I.D is .870 +- .001. To use a smaller pin the brake pedal and the pedal support bracket would all have to have metal bushings made. I'm thinking about buying the large ones from Brewers, and tryiny to cut them down. Then use a heat gun to reshape.

contact www.smsmopar.com

I was looking for these and talked to them at carlise this year. They did not have any there but said they had them at their shop. I ended up not needing them as I had a parts car that had a good set in them.

Thanks Jamakin. Sent them an e-mail. Hope to get a reply.

Well still no luck on bushings. Brewers has the large and small, but none my size. smsmopar gave me another part number but the inner diameter is only 0.750 and my pin od is 0.810. Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only one who has had these bushings wear out with this size clevis pin?
I'm going to try a machine shop to see if I can have something made but being a holiday weekend I will have to wait untill next week.
If anyone has been in this situation please let me know what you have done.
Thanks, Wayne

First I would bother the Chrysler dealers parts counter. If that didn't work, I think I would be looking for the more common parts. Then the aftermarket can help you.

an old thread, I know............

But I too, was looking for these same bushings......I searched to no avail for these bushings that NO ONE makes...SO.......I made them my damn self on a lathe out of bronze. Works MUCH MUCH better, takes the slop out of everything and feels real nice...Took me well over an hour....you want a set? $60 bucks shipped to your door. (hourly shop rate), I know, price is pretty steep. but hey, at least now they are available, and you will never have to replace them ever again....:)

Mopardude318,
Is your offer still on the table? My pedals have a ton of slop in them. Haven't taken them apart yet but for $60, that would save a ton of headaches if I do need new ones.
PM me if you're still making these.

Al-bronze bushings is the way to take the slop out of any type of linkage.
Plus you can custom turn them to any od/id.

Now thats a super slick and permanent fix. If only the factory did this from the get go.

Hey all,

Yeah I know, old thread. I went ahead and made a set of bushings for moparmat2000, and made a few extras while I was at it for anyone who might still need a pair. These are the .810 (my measurements were +/- .002 on different pedal assys.) type. And I also turned a few sets of clutch bushings as well.

If you have a different size and need bushings I can make those too I would just need good measurements or preferably the actual pedal assy to measure (at least the for the first run) to get a good product.

Anyhow, They are $30 for brake or clutch bushes alone, or $60 for brake & clutch as a set. Just pm me.

Chris E.

PS, in the background of the first pic you can see the slugs of bronze it takes to make these things. starts out as quite a hunk of metal to make such a light part!
