**Twin Turbo 67 Dart Project**

-
Well, I am done posting progress on any of my projects. I was doing this so people could see how it is done and toss ideas around and possibly get out there and do something themselves. That purpose has gone out the window.

They don't even understand how much time goes into updating a thread in detail like I do with pictures and progress because they have NEVER done it themselves.

Dont worry about the nay sayers. Your doing a great job,Im positive the car will turn out exactly as planned and to spec as well.
KEEP POSTING. Now I should take my own advice huh? More like just get out there and do it. But guess what? It's sooooooo difficult for me,I have been sick so long AND ONLY GETTING SICKER.

But guess where I get my motivation for going through all the pain of working on my Dart.

A TON of it comes from this thread!

Dont give up just because of the negativity. Look at it as jealousy.

Hey Louis don't let these butt munchers get to you. They think their experts because they read about others work but they have no understanding of how to DO. Resto nailed it = jealousy, cause they don't have the skillzzz to do it themselves. I've followed all your threads with great interest and would be sad to see you stop posting. Please don't stop.

You guys know what "YOU" want so don't let criticism whether it be constructive or non-constructive kill this thread.
Alot of time and effort involved to just drop it! I know too!

I do believe he was expressing a possible concern with a particular piece of that cage puzzle. I too was thinking about that snout bar that runs out to the shock mount and frame rail from the a-pillar bars. I was thinking the same thing about it collapsing in a direct impact to the headlight area at speed. It "Could" twist towards you shin and rip from the a-pillar bar. I didn't post anything about it but he might be right. I also thought you might weld in a cross bar from that bend to the other side and that would solve that issue without fail imo unless it interfears with the brake pedal....

Just sayn'... No Pun intended!! I have hit the wall at 100+mph so I have an idea what happens. My Falcon had a 14 point and still bent the a-pillar bar.

I know its a crude drawing but this is the area I am talking about,

louis i have read every post right from the start and man dont let anyone push you around here you are doing a super job hell you could open yolur own shop Just with your knowledge alone.

i understand the problem with time howevr you use your time in a very constructive way and able to get stuff done because you are focused.

the final verdict here-jealousy.

you have evrything you have skills, you have a shop, you have the drive and have the pesos to do it.

you my friend have for the last 3 months got my *** off the couch and started to work on my 69 cuda just watching this thread is motivating enough now you keep up the good work and keep posting your thread is awesome

MadDart,
I almost never replay on here.
But I'm always looking.
Great work Dude!!!!!!!!
This is Priceless info you are giving out.
Keep up the Great work!

I would be interested in knowing for 100% sure if that removable seat belt bar is NHRA legal because I like it. When I had my cage done 6 tears ago the builder said it wouldn't be legal or I read it somewere can't remember.

I don't have a current rule book handy to check.

The rule book is very vague. It is also open to a lot of interpetation. Building a cage is very tough when you try to keep the car original and fit a complicated cage. I don't think Ramit had bad intentions. But unwanted advice is considered criticism. So I see where your coming from too. Enough on that.

As far as ladder bar goes, the 8 second Vega twin turbo has 32 inch ladder bars and runs a 8 inch tire. So even though they are archaic they do work. I really feel your 4 link will work and moving your shocks to the back side will help your cause.

Louis, you should quit posting, your making me look lazy. :D

Yeah when I swap out to the 9" Rear I am fairly certain that the shocks will get moved to the back of the axle. This creates another problem though like usual. The stock gas tank will need to go. I now will be cutting out the spare tire well and mounting a 20 Gallon Fuel Cell partially sunk into the new trunk floor. This will work well to mount the 3 Fuel pumps/filters etc on the underside of the trunk area without trying to "lift any fuel".

Mad I don't know what party of folks has annoyed you to the point of wanting to stop posting, but don't fall prey to asswipes...I think your project is phenomenal-I just wish I had to money to pursue something of that caliber. I am doing my own turbo build, but it's in a 4-eye Foxbody Mustang...dropping in a 4.6 4V with a single 72 or 76mm (haven't decided yet) Borg-Warner Airwerks unit. Most of my pieces parts are bolt on or only require modest modification-due to the massive aftermarket following. But, honestly, who on this forum wants to hear about a lil ol' turd Mustang?

That being said, I sat down one evening and perused this thread until I couldn't keep my eyes open-between yours and whoever it was (name escapes me at the moment) building "Turbo Scamp" had me in complete awe. Your thread was what led me to use Hedman headers, and (finally) get my exhaust redone-it was way overdue. So, whatever lit your fire, hell with 'em-I like the thread, and I read to learn stuff about these cars. I'd like to see the thread continue.

:DOld guys and Old Hemis are cool.:D

Hey louis, hows it going. Sure wish I had the time to see your project when we met. Stick with it an post. Lots of followers. Say, you mentioned one time of maybe running the salt flats or dry lakes?

I had my buddy who helped me with the cage over yesterday and told him about you guys concerns about the Forward Strut bars. He started laughing. He says the bar is welded to the front frame rail, welded to the shock tower and will be stitch welded to the inner fender well along with a plate on the firewall. He concluded with if you hit the wall head on or even at an angle at 100mph there is NO WAY that bar would ever hit or impale you. It is tied to too many other things for that to ever happen and I totally agree with him. He has seen his fare share of wrecks in his 30+ years of building race cars. So Enough on that subject.......

I totally agree with your buddy too. The snout bar is triangulated, one of the strongest engineering structures known to man. Impaled?

Not in our lifetimes..

Took some pictures of the ride height today to get my new measurments for the New Upper Link Bars. They will be right at 14" long now and angle from the top of the pumpkin to the side of the frame rail after I reinforce it. The Shock tower will be cut out and moved behind the axle so I can mount the shocks behind the axle. I will again be snapping lines on my shop floor and sealing them with some Clear to calculate Instant center with the help of my buddy Pete.
