Has anyone ever taken up TTi on their 2 year ceramic coating warranty. Their website says to send your headers with a from to Engineered Applications, and they would decide if they would do the work or not. I'd hate to ship my headers across country just to be denied the warranty.

I bought my headers last april and put maybe 2k miles on them, by the fall the looked like the pictures below. My engine had about 5k miles on it when they were installed. What do you think?

Put it this way. Tell TTI if the dont warrantee them...they lost my sale. Keep me updated. looking to buy new headers soon. I'm switching to manual steering so i figure pull the headers while I'm at it.

I think you best get out the butt lube. TTi is great at passing the buck. Phone the top dog there Sam Davis. Then e-mail him your story and pictures. I am dying to hear where this goes.
BTW. I hope you get covered
Best of luck

putting in my order for set next week. i am paying the extra for ceramic coated and polished. for 880 dollars they better not look like that. keep us all posted.

Which member was it that had the fitting issues and them tried to modify them. How did that warranty claim work out. I think in the end they stood behind their product.

I just bought a set of 1 7/8 headers with ceramic coating. My coating better last longer than yours did. I would send them back if it were me. Keep us posted on how they treat you. Good luck.

Im looking to order a set. Are those the W2 step headers? If so i'd buy them if you order something different.

That would be me. I love the headers, but they hit the starter and a casting bulge on the block when I test fit them on the engine stand. And it was a high torque mini starter. I had to grind the block and then bend the headers to clear the starter.

That said, I had a huge oil leak when I first got the motor running. It ran down the headers and burned on, staining them a dark brown. I fixed the leak and tried to wash the headers. No dice. I tried degreaser, brake clean, parts cleaner and carb cleaner. Nothing touched it. $800 in headers stained to hell. Three days later it was burned off and the headers looked new.

They do warn you to first run the motor with old headers or an oe manifold because the excess heat from a new untimed, carb unadjusted motor can burn off the thermal and ceramic coatings. The temps reached while tuning a new engine are extreme. In my case it involved pulling the motor, so I timed it quick and had it tuned in less than a minute. Don't know what they will say. I wish you luck.

Why is it a crock? Just because it's a PIA and not practical doesn't mean it's a crock. You run a rich, untimed engine and your exhaust can run 1700 degrees. They are telling you ahead of time that this can be a problem. I don't know what happened to the headers in this post, but I would send the pics to TTi.

Mine not as bad as yours... but they have not lived up to the ceramic coating hype.
After about 1 1/2yrs the coating has deteriorated around the area where the tubes and flange attach to the heads.
I was gonna call them in regards to wtty but have not. Partly due to the fact of having to remove them (were a beyatch to install) but also having to box and ship... wondering if they would cover or make excuses. I still may take a few pics and send them to see what they say.
Alot of money for an inferior product... in my opinion.

When I bought my car there were a set of hooker super comps in it, and PS, they had been beaten almost flat to clear the PS box. The engine had about 4500 miles on it when I got it, so I dont think it was due to excess heat.

The headers fit great, and thats why I bought them, because I wanted to keep my PS, I didnt have to modify them at all to fit. But I did expect more out of the coating.

TTi does not list an email address on their website, but I will call them today and see what they say. I bought the headers through mancini, and did email them the pictures and asked for direction, i'm still waiting to hear back from them.

When PSC was an authorized dealer for Performance Coatings in Georgia a few years ago, the warranty materials I received almost mirrored those in Mopar 2 Ya's post above. The only addition was an important one, and something I'd bet other coatings places don't bother to tell their customers.

You have to use stainless steel hardware on the headers AND on the valve covers above them. "Incidental rust" resulting from steel hardware is NOT covered and results in their ability to decline your warranty.

I hope these situations work out for all of you!

They also advise you to put some cardboard under your car when in the garage/shop so the moisture from the concrete doesn't rust them up.

I also "oil leaked" onto mine from my breather hose.

UPDATE:
I've been emailing with Gustavo Perez, president of EA (Engineering Applications). He has said in his 14 years in business he has never seen anything this bad in my time frame.
He even went as far to ask if I had spilled something corrrosive on them. Of course nothing like that has happened and the only thing leaked on them was some PS fluid on the drivers side from a slow leak that I had for a for a short while, which I told him about..

Based on the pictures, my word, and my proof of purchase he has agreed to re-coat my headers if I ship them to them. This is good news!

He did say that this was very unique, and they are standing behind it, based on that and the way they fit I would buy them again.

Now.... what is the best way to ship a set of headers cross country? cudachick any tips?

That is good to hear. I thought they would take care of you if it was a defect, but these days it seems you can never be sure. It makes me happier after I spent my $800 on mine.

WOW, I have several sets and all look like the day they came out of the box. It sounds like E.A. is going to do you right. Fingers are crossed for ya !

Congratulations!! That's terrific news. :-D

Most full-length tube header boxes are 4-5 feet long and at least a foot wide so check your local appliance / repair stores. Make sure there's AT LEAST 3 inches of suitable industrial-use cushioning (pellets, peanuts, etc.) on all sides of the parts, and preferably more. Include a letter inside the box with your name, address, phone, and vehicle application info (just in case they deem you need a new set).

If you have your own account with a shipper, you can include your own return label inside the box to speed the return home and easily manage and track your shipping expenses.

Insure the box for not only the cost of a new set of headers but for a coating job as well just in case anything happens to them; that way, if it does, you won't be "out" anything. Ask A.E. to do the same for the shipment home to you.

Hope this helps!

That was me and I discoved that I was sent B body headers that TTi swore were the right ones. It took a few telepone calls with stirn words. I ended up with 1 3/4" coated headers. When you install your new coated & polished headers make sure they are not marked and a squeeky clean efore you light it up.. If the coating pitt like buddies here they will have a million excusses not to replace. like ston chips, oil or fluid leaking on the headers bla bla bla.

Well here you go boys:

Mike Raby/Sales miker@ttiexhaust.com
Sam Davis/Tech davis@ttiexhaust.com (Sam owned the company at one time)

YOU DID NOT GET THIS INFO FROM ME! :silent:

Has anyone tried buying TTI headers uncoated and having them sent directly to a reputable coater like JET-HOT?

The coating on my Doug's headers is doing that, but only where I got some oil on them during an oil change. They've been on it for about 2 years. If you get anything on them in the future (oil, anti-freeze, etc) make sure you get it thoroughly wiped off because I believe that it somehow damages the coating, maybe from the oil getting hot (no scientific evidence, just based on the fact that the only problem area is where oil got on it).
