Friend of mine needed a battery for a Prius, Toyota's quote was $4000.00 and $2000.00 for installation. The Insurance company totaled the car, said it wasn't worth fixing.
Batteries are Maintenance. Insurance companies have nothing to do with it. If it was part of an accident claim then it could push the repair bill into the Totaled category.
