I want to put a ''hypothetical'' question out there for you to ponder.
IF a U.S. company was thinking of doing slant headers and wanted to do long tube that fit both the 170 low block and the 198/225 tall block, would there be any interest ?? They would come coated and be high quality, also be for high mount starter location.
What would you like to see 3=3 for duals. 6=1 for single exhaust, or some type of tri Y design ?
Again I'm just putting this out there as headers have been a subject on several forums. Please be honest with your replies as this could become a reality if enough interest is shown.

The slant 6 is getting increasingly more popular all the time !! To offer another choice for the /6 couldn't do anything but help I would think !! Just check out all the threads, build it they will come !!!GL:hello1::hello1:

longer answer - I think i would want a single exhaust, but if there's a good header that's 3 + 3 I guess I can get my own Y pipe. I would like a header that lasts awhile. The trickiest part...I wish I could find a header that doesn't cost as much as the rest of my car did...so I will present my wish to Santa, the Toothfairy, and the Easter Bunny...

As long as an economy uncoated set was available, yes.

Thank you for your responces,we will foward the findings to the manufacturer that had interest in producing a new header.

and an inexpensive set of V-8 headers for the 1st gen A bodies would also be nice.

6-1 long tube for me and keep it affordable similar to
i believe it was "Mopar performance" back in the day

In talks with the manufacturer, The plan is R&D with a early A 170(we have) and then swap in a 225 to check fitment Issues. Then try different body styles. Not saying that this won't take a while, but it's a start.

I am a little crazy and most won't agree with this, but I would like to see a set that is no bigger than a factory manifold and is a shorty style header. It would make it real popular with the turbo crowd. Or it could be a turbo slant header that has an available elbow that bolts to the turbo flange for the NA cars.

Yes a readily available aftermarket turbo manifold would be :prayer:.

i actually e-mailed the people that make patriot headers about this last week, i just dont think anyone that is normally aspirated can expect a real HP increase with a shorty.

you want an honest reply. well here it goes. as typical with most mopar parts, there will be a ton of interest right up till you share what they will cost. they better be cheap or you'll lose a most of that interest. sorry, just a fact of the mopar world.

You are right there,Joe, like everything else in this or any hobby cost is a factor.
The day of the 99 dollar BlackJack header is long gone.
wp23n Patriot was one of the companies that didn't laugh at me or give me a flat out NO WAY when asked at SEMA.Profit is the bottom line for any manufacturer large or small.
The reason for any of this is a company basicly said "We are considering the Slant market if we know what is wanted in the market". So I said that I'd try to find out.
Just the thought of anyone willing to discuss this project is a plus.
For me this project is a labor of love for the hobby and thank you for all the comments. Will this go anywhere? Don't know, but worth trying. Just this past weekend it was cool to see a Supercharged Slant run a 11.50 and another with a 60hp shot of nitrous run a 11.14.

Another consideration is a common flange to block thickness !! I am finding out now about major differences in thickness, and I really don't want the rigged look !! 1/2 thick Cliffords,3/8 (?) on the Hookers and I still need to check out the Aussie thickness !!Cutting and grinding washers to take up the slack sucks, and not conducive to my BLING FACTOR !!

I think the most successful header will be the ones that are priced to sell. I for one would buy it for my slant but the prices are just retarded.... Non coated budget header. At least IMHO

6pak, They know about the proper flange thickness, so no 5/16 nuts welded to a thin flange to take up space.(old Mopar Performance).Looks like Clifford type flange works best. Until we get into the R&D with a car(later this summer)Wrencher,It will be a while before they come up with a cost I assume. They are aware that Slanters are watchful with a dollar.(I know I am)The R&D will be done using a Factory iron intake and a Clifford 4bbl intake as they are the most used. I also will supply a Offy for comparison.

the header they build should be in 1.5" not 1 5/8"...

only the race guys can support that kinda flow... the 1.5" would give better tq on the street, and take up less space...

Thanks Kid,, All of this will be noted and given to the manufacturer. Looking for common ground.

The best header set-up for an inline 6 is 1=6, 2=5, 3=4, then 3 into 1 at a 2 & 1/2 " outlet....will give the best of both worlds for Tq & HP through the rev range.....of course that will depend on diameter/length of primary, diameter/length of secondary pipes, and the volume of the collectors they each go into.
They don't make anything like that here for a Slant 6, so I got the best ones available here........
