Back again guys.I just did my 318 over, rear end has a set of Richmond Gears,355 with sure grip, and a 4 speed.I put the car back together and now i have a vibration and a whine in the rearend when you let off the gas,no very little noise under load. The axles also have green bearings on moser axles.I put the back up on jack stands and no noise at 20 mpr.Let it idle in 2nd gear and there is a clunking noise every 4 or 5 seconds apart.Any help would be great.

Sounds like the rear gear are not setup correctly! The pinion depth isn't set right.

Did you have this with the old motor, or you did the new motor, and the gears and the shaft ?

Sounds like the gears were set up wrong and the shaft did you change joints......

.

Remove your mother in law from the trunk,....But seriously folks,...What is your diff?,...Is It a 8 1/4?...Sounds like your gears aren't set right,...you should pull the cover and check your pinion depth, see if the wear on the ring vs. pinion is centered,....

I had new gears put in,the other ones were shot, even ruined a perfectly good 489 case so had to get another. The rearend is a 83/4.Been reading online that Richmond gears all whine because of the material in them for racing.
