slant six turbo build

BILL where are you ? this is calling your name !! LOL

I don't know if you can do this for $1,000.00, but, maybe...

FABO member PISHTA has such a setup on his slant six and did a descriptive mini-thread on it. He may show up here, or perhaps you could go into his profile and look for the list of posts he did for it.

The main problem seems to be, if you don't want to build a tubing header, that the cast iron manifolds just are crack-prone and won't like very much, being welded on, to attach a turbo mounting flange.

PISHTA got around that problem by fabricating a U-shaped turbo mount ( a piece of 2 1/2" tubing, or maybe it was 3"... I don't remember,) that bolted to the original manifold outlet, then had the turbo mount welded to the other end of the tubing. That minimized the probability that the original exhaust manifold would crack. I guess he ran some sort of support for the whole thing.

I think it was an excellent idea.

If you only envision running 10 pounds of boost, you''ll be saving yourself a lot of money because of all the stock OEM pieces you'll be able to use.

You won't need much more than a stock reciprocating assembly, and the stock cam and head will work fine.

A "sSper Six" 2-bbl intake manifold and a Holley 350cfm 2-bbl would work well with this build, I think.

I don't believe that an intercooler will be necessary, or even beneficial, at 10 pounds, but if you could swing it, an alky injector like the Snowperformance Boost Cooler, would probably help stave off detonation.

It won't be a barn burner, but should give a 1972 stock 340 Duster a run for its money, if you can keep the weight down around 3,000 pounds.

Good luck, and keep us posted!!! I think this will be a fun build!!!!:hello1:
