A boy and his first car - even if it is an old Ford

I had the "downgrade" of one of these for a commuter for awhile, a 78 Ferd LTDII, joking called the "SCUD missile" because we figured it was a "low flying, poorly guided" missile.

I notice you are in Minnesota. One thing I REALLY like about the Ferd transmissions, is that in slick conditions, you can put the trans in "2" and UNlike GM or Mopar, which shifts from 1 to 2, when placed in "2" the Ferds LOCK in 2nd gear. This is GREAT for slick spots to help prevent wheelspin, at intersections, etc.

I bought mine with a damaged oil pump and broke camshaft, from ingesting pieces of PLASTIC TIMING SPROCKET so if it's got "a few" on the clock, consider a new timing drive.

Only other real problem I had was an intermittent with the electronic ignition --it would just randomly quit. This was towards "the end of it's days" so I just dropped a points distributor in it.
