how to ruin a duster

-
I think the Duster and the 1st gen Barracuda look good. I may have come down to it was cheaper in the long run to modify them to the owners taste rather than buy used parts and try to restore the cars. I caught a ration of caca about my race car because it was originally a 340 4 spd car that had been cut up when I first joined the site. I had to explain that it has been a race car all it's life and I'm at least the third owner. and am just trying to build myself a fun bracket car. One of theses days when I hit the lottery, I'll find an LO23 car that is pristine, numbers matching and buy that. Yea, fat f*****g chance.

One may say its ruined. I dont like it but at least it wasnt scrapped or crushed.

I completely understand the mods to the taillights of the early cuda. The owner priced a set of NOS tail light lenses $$$ It was cheaper to shave them and french in a set of lights in the rear panel :D.

I did think he did a very clean job shaving the V shape that is this on front fenders of early cudas and valiants.

Car was not to my taste, but not ruined in my opinion.

The 4X4 a-body was only missing a mullet to be perfect (insert sarcastic tone here)

I'd love a chance to drive that 4x4 Duster.
I'd launch it like the Duke boys and laugh my *** off!
Looks like a road warrior.

This will certainly annoy some people, but I never liked the 63-66 A body cars, and the Barracudas are the worst. THAT one though.....I LOVE the rear wheelwells! The bumpers? VERY creative! The rear looks a little like a 73 Nova though. Still, these sorts of mods can only help an early Barracuda. Hey... Sorry, but I know that I'm not the only one out there that thinks that those cars are ugly. Didn't the 64 Mustang outsell them 9 to 1 in 1964?

It looks like it was painted with the MFP colors from the first Mad Max movie. I don't know if anyone noticed, but that front suspension is serious as a heart attack. It's 100% pre-runner and could probably blast across the Sonoran or Baja desert as 100 mph. Hell Yeah I'd drive it. It's so wrong it's right! :burnout:

I posted pictures of this car awhile back and although its not my cup of tea......I do admire that someone put so mjch effort into doing it the way they wanted and doing such a clean job. I got flamed here before for saying that when the peanut gallery that thought it was ugly chimed in lol.

heres another pic of it.

One man's meat is another man's poison......
That being said, i still don't like the styling, but i can appreciate the craftsmanship.
Ruined?
No.
Fugly?
Yes.

This guy is obviously a skilled bodyman. But... but... Ugh. Bodyman skills and taste do not go hand in hand, CLEARLY.

I used to feel the same way and I'm hard core numbers/casting guy. However, over the years I have lighten up and have started to appreciate some of the "bling bling" cars. The builder may of had no choice but to take that route, for what ever reason. I'd never restore a last production Duster. Why waste the time and money. So I think some of you are being a bit harsh. It is what it is! Enjoy everones car for what it is and don't be so picky.

Case in point....I spent over $50,000.00, seven years of every free moment and a devorce restoring a 1970 Cuda'-440. I trailered it from Northern BC to Seattle,WA where there were some top cars. Parked next to my car could of been it's twin. Except it was a clone. A very nice car. It had a shaker & 4 speed were the only big differances.

People would walk over my hood to see the shaker car and it beat me out in the judging. Go figure. It is what it is!

agreed- just because it's good craftsmanship doesn't mean I can't say that I think it's ugly.

Oh god... its even uglier from that angle.

Never said the guy wasnt skilled. Just that his taste level was... askew

I don't know. I know I wouldn't ever call somebody's car butt ugly that had that much good craftsmanship tied up in it.....because first, "I" am not that good and secondly, It's THEIR car. They built it like they wanted to. Would I build mine like that? Maybe not, but that certainly doesn't mean their cars are ruined. I think some of yall need to get off your frikkin high horses.

Agreed

I saw a Firebird grill grafted onto a !st gen Cuda. Looked like it belonged there

I'm gonna paint my Spacer flat black and paint teeth on it just to be different...
