Aloha!!!

No NOT the fenderwells! My question is all the items on and within the engine compartment that are and were black from the factory. Was it Satin? Gloss? Semi-Gloss?

Such as the PS pump? PB? Alternator brackets (all the brackets). Radiator? Steering gear?

Mahalo Mike!!!!
PS this is for a 66 barracuda 273. :burnout:

My 64 Signet from the factory was gloss black matching its exterior black paint.
The brackets are all a semi gloss.

Eastwood sells many of the paints to match factory standards.

Mahalo! EASTWOOD rapes me to ship paint to hawaii. I'd rather dive for tako, beat it on a rock and make my own satin black from the ink before ordering from them. LOL

Aloha Mike

Probably dont have many John Deere dealers in Hawaii but they have a super semi gloss in a spray can. tmm

Anybody have some pics.... mine is bare metal right now, does it have to be epoxy primer or can i use self-etching primer?????

Mahalo all. I'll check on the John Deere. Good ? DODGE74 I think that depends on what paint you use.

Aloha Mike

When parts for these cars were new, they were supplied to the OEM's from many different vendors. You can bet your bottom dollar that shades and sheen from one vendor to another will vary.
I like John Deere Blitz Black
Rustoleum 777 (takes forever to dry so keep that in mind)
Krylon semi-gloss or semi flat

Best bet is to NOT use the same paint to do every underhood component or they will all look the same. If you use paints from different manufacturers, you'll get a more accurate depiction of what the cars actually were like back when they were new, and your restoration will be more accurate.
It sounds like you're doing a correct restoration based on your question. If so, remember that a lot of parts were "dip painted" and will show signs of drips & runs.

Good Luck!!

George

I used rustoleum glossy black ,thin it out with mineral spirits and spray gun.
looks real good .

Mahalo George! I'm trying my best but some things won't be factory correct. such as the offy intake...but I do plan on painting it to match. Appreciate the "Dip paint" hint. I may be able to get the effect even with rattle can.

Aloha Mike
