Black Paint ?? in engine compartment!

When parts for these cars were new, they were supplied to the OEM's from many different vendors. You can bet your bottom dollar that shades and sheen from one vendor to another will vary.
I like John Deere Blitz Black
Rustoleum 777 (takes forever to dry so keep that in mind)
Krylon semi-gloss or semi flat

Best bet is to NOT use the same paint to do every underhood component or they will all look the same. If you use paints from different manufacturers, you'll get a more accurate depiction of what the cars actually were like back when they were new, and your restoration will be more accurate.
It sounds like you're doing a correct restoration based on your question. If so, remember that a lot of parts were "dip painted" and will show signs of drips & runs.

Good Luck!!

Mahalo George! I'm trying my best but some things won't be factory correct. such as the offy intake...but I do plan on painting it to match. Appreciate the "Dip paint" hint. I may be able to get the effect even with rattle can.
