progress on my Golden Commando "tribute" race car

the car I'm building is a tribute to the Golden Commandos-it's a '66 Canadian Valiant(US Dart) that I've done up like the D/Darts but put in a Plymouth style. Anyhow I got the motor/tranny in yesterday and i'm real close now. Just have to drop in the new rear end(which is ready to go) and hook up the fuel lines and wiring harness and put the master cylinder back in and a few small things in the engine compartment . hope you like it.

it's come along way from this in just one year-it's all in the vision!

What type of scoop are you using? I'd like to find something similar for my '65 Valiant. Very nice job!
 
Hamilton Motors was the original sponsor of the Golden Commandos-and they didn't sell Chevies back then!
The scoop is a '67 RO hemi scoop.
 
The fenderwells were already cut when I got the car-somebody was planning to make a race car but got only as far as cutting the innner fenders and gave up(they did absolutely nothing else to a completely original car) .
so I had no choice when it came to headers!
 
After reading some extensive coverage of the D-Dart program that I found, I wanted to chip back in to say that the headers are not an issue with me as far as being "correct". The Stock class rules of the day did allow any headers, and the references I found did state other headers were used. I think you're building a truly cool car there, not unlike one I have planned. My dream is to build a '64 Dart painted "taxicab" yellow and striped like Bill "Maverick" Golden's '64 Hemi Superstocker from the days before the Little Red Wagon. Maverick never had a Dart racecar, so what I want to build is what I can afford to offer tribute to a truly nice guy that I had the pleasure of meeting at a long gone Dodge dealership in Port Arthur, Texas and seeing drive at the long gone Golden Triangle Drag Strip. Just a car to say "Thanks for the memories, Bill." Which it seems is pretty much what you're doing. All the best!
