what is the biggest cam u could put in a small block that got stock j heads before the valve will hit the piston i have 360 j heads thanks guys

I think it will hit the guide boss in the head 1st, but i nthe .530 range is close with stock pistons, or do you have vavle pockets in the pistons?

hi, it's not lift that causes valves to hit. it's cam duration and lobe center angle the cam is ground on. lift will cause retainers to hit guides. installing a roller setup will require installing a tube through the right side oil galley the length of the block. anything over .500 lift will require shortening of guides, and notches will be needed for duration over about 280, according to mopar.
