Roll Call: Fall Fling XII in CA, Nov 10, 2007

Steve,

I was not initially concerned with our cars/trailers but wanted to take you up on a previous offer for a spot by the picnic benches or to the rear of there for members of several clubs (ie. FABO, BBD, MML, Moparts, BOG, etc.) to meet up. Do we have to buy a spot now just to have a common meeting place?

I just can't have tents in the show area. The wind kicks up and it will damage cars and hurt people.

If FABO wants to bring a tent and have a 10x10 spot for just the club meeting space I can do that. Just no parts for sale in it. I need someone from FABO to coordinate it and set it up.

OR some of you could drive in together (or close together) in line and setup a picnic area behind the cars. Just no tents in the show area. There's lots of trees anyway and it's November. I don't think a tent is really necessary. But trying to give you guys options.

Also, since you mentioned pricing for cars being brought to sell (in the swap/car corral area), if these two cars I mentioned earlier do not run and are on trailers, I would have to buy four spots ($120) for the trailers and my tow vehicles? I am sure there is a reason for not allowing people to detach their trailers (perhaps to keep the flow of swappers smooth) but would a possible solution be to have trailered vehicles that are for sale start in one of the back rows while the swappers fill in smoothly from the front? This way, we can detach quickly and get out of there. Food for thought. Anyway, please let me know if this is set in stone so we can adjust the plans if need be.

Thanks and look forward to a good show.

We park swap swap first come first served nose to tail. That way we can get all the 150+ swapper 3/4 mile long line parked between 7:00am and 7:45am or so. We need to park all the swap quickly and smoothly because:

-it allows a Fair Chance swap meet that regular people that actually own the cars can get first chance on the used parts to put on thiercars. If you have a separate setup day to jockey trailers and cars, all the "resellers" and professional part flippers will get all the parts and regular owners of the cars will not get a chance at them.

-we try to emphasize the car owners getting parts to keep their cars going. And since we only charge half of what other major event charge for swap spots we bring out lots of regular guys selling their extras.

-you don't have to wait in a long line

-we don't need a swap setup day on Friday that club volunteers have to take days off of work to set up.

We've done “the unload the trailer” in the spot deal before at a back row and it doesn't work. We fill so fast by the time you unload a car off a trailer there's swappers already filling behind you.

Email me and we’ll figure something out.
