My Dart just got a new coat of paint, and I'm looking at my front and rear bumper... I'm not a fan of the bumperettes... the chrome could use a freshening up... so I'm thinking about having he holes for the bumperettes welded up and getting both bumpers rechromed. Anyone done this? Curious what kind of cost is involved... I'm hoping less than $150 a bumper or so?

I like the bumperettes personally. You dont have to weld the holes up, Pull the bumperettes and replace them with regular bumper bolts.

I'll respectfully disagree with the first part, cause I hate the bumperettes. LOL

The second part with the bolts is what I did just in case for some strange reason I wanted to put them back on.

I dont like them on most cars. I would never put them on my Duster but I think they look good on Darts and 67-69 Barracudas

i like the bumperettes.....it adds to the agressive look of the car....without them it looks plain and like a low trim model this is my 71 but i also love the way they look on my 69 dart

No bumperettes. Removed them on my 71. Then decided to go with a 70 rear bumper since I needed to have it rechromed. Check with BUmperBoys (CA also). You can but them out right or send in your cores.

Wow... pretty much split down the middle. In looking at the cost of rechroming .. .I may just see if I can get new rubber inserts for the bumperettes and put them back on instead of rechroming. There's a definite difference in how the chrome looks where the bumperettes were.. .so if I leave them off, you can see where they were (and I cleaned them up with 0000 steel wool)... so as much as I'm not crazy about them.. looks like they're staying
