Another possibility is that you haven't completely seated the linkage ball(s) into the bushing socket(s). I had this very thing happen to me, the linkage appeared and felt to be seated, but really wasn't. Not having any special tools, I took a pair of channel locks large enough to get the jaws roughly parallel and carefully seated the linkage balls into their respective sockets.
Of course, complete success eluded me until I abandoned the typical parts store bubble packed replacements (which wore out or broke into pieces within a VERY short time) and (after the second set of parts store ones) eBayed a set of genuine MOPAR bushings. Don't forget to lube them at assembly.
