AMC's used a pinion snubber like a Mopar's? As for how it got there, it doesn't surprise me cause some guys will put what ever they have in a car. I once saw a 1 ton Ford dually rearend in a Buick. Since Rambler American's had the same width and spring perch centers and driveshaft offset as an A-body Mopar their rear is a direct bolt in. Maybe that's what it came out of? My father-in-law has a 64 American and when I was working on it I measured the rearend and was surprised to find out it has the same dimensions as the 8-3/4 in my Cuda.
